Julia Child. Know her? I didn't. Not until watching the Julie and Julia movie. Julia was an American chef who shared her passion for French cuisine with the world, through her cookbooks and television shows.
She was born on the 15 August (on this day) 1912, and died on the 13 August 2004, at the age of 91, which would have made her 100 years today!
The movie Julie and Julia is based on Julia, and a blogger named Julie Powell, who challenged herself to go through every recipe in Julia Child's first book. It is a cute movie, with Meryl Streep playing Julia, and Amy Adams (Leap Year) playing Julie. Other well-known actors include Stanley Tucci, as Julia's husband, and Chris Messina as Julie's husband. Jane Lynch (Glee) also stars. It really is a good watch!
